Peaches Polish review

I was sent 8 pretty polishes from indie brand Peaches Polish. Here they are, one by one:

Bunny Tail is a very sheer hot pink polish. I layered three coats over one coat of Lime Crime Milky Ways.  It has white bars and different shaped hot pink hex glitters.

Mumsie Lavendar is a true purple glitter packed polish. This is two coats over Bella Belle in Lavendar Fields. It has magenta hexes, larger hexes of light purple and dark purple squares.

Beach Day is another sheer polish. Packed with tiny neon yellow and darker blue glitters, large yellow hexes and white bars. I layered two coats over OPI No Room For The Blues.

Apple Liquorice I really liked. I put two coats over Zoya Josie, which was a perfect match. I like the mix if glitters in this one. Tiny glitters and mixes of blues, coppers and yellows, very pretty.

Me Bunny I think was the most sheer of them all. I put two coats over Zoya Neely. Round blue glitters, square darker blues and tiny neon yellows.

Lady is very pretty. This is just three coats  on it's own. Hexes of magenta and purple and Lavendar bars. A true jelly, I really liked this one.

I want candy is a sheer polish with golden yellow glitters, hot pink and red. I put two coats over a holographic polish from Dead Set Babes, I Killed The Teen Dream.

Tink Topper was my favourite of them all. I put two coats over OPI 4 In The Morning. I'm a sucker for a holo topper and this one especially doesn't dissapoint.

All in all, most of the polishes are sheer, and if you like layering your polishes to get different results, this is the brand for you. I'm a fan of jellies and opaque polishes, so Lady was a fave of mine, along with Tink Topper. Check out their other polishes so find the ones that are right for you. All are Australian made and hand mixed.
Peaches Polish also makes a cuticle balm, Magic Balm, which is coconut scented and reminds me of a vacation. I'd recommend using it at night before bed to hydrate your cuticles, as it is quite thick. Ideal for very dry skin.

20 facts about me

1. I love watching stand up comedians. My favourites are Tim Minchin, Carl Barron, Danny Bhoy, Adam Hills and Felicity Ward.
2. My favourite animals are sloths and bears
3. I almost joined a roller derby team recently. My friend Psaultis plays. I love derby and go to a lot of games. But I decided that I like my teeth the way they are, so I didn't. If I did though, my name would be Bettie Pain, because I'm a big Bettie Page fan.
4. I love the smell of Windex
5. I have very diverse taste in movies. From Sound of Music to Tarentino films, I enjoy watching everything. I'm a movie addict and download a lot. Hehe naughty. But I still love going to the movies.
6. I've travelled overseas twice. Fiji in 2011 and Thailand in 2012. Can't wait to venture out again. Next I want to see New York!
7. I get panick attacks and have severe anxiety and am on medication for it. I know I have forgotten to take my meds when I start crying at tv ads. So sad.
8. I grew up a total tomboy. The first boy I hit was in grade three because he tried to kiss me. Only now am I starting to embrace my girly side.
9. I hate exercise. With a passion. The only workout I do is an hour of dancing each Monday night, and that's only because it's fun and I love music. Otherwise, no. I don't think I'm lazy, I just get bored.
10. I love my food. I'm rubbish at dieting because I get bored with salads, etc. Not because I like junk food but I love pasta, bread, cheese, curries.. (Drooling now!!) I need variety. But I do eat in moderation.
11. I steal my hubbies clothes all the time. They're just comfy. I'm wearing his Sin City shirt right now.
12. I only like white wine. I haven't found a red wine I've ever liked. It needs to be fruity or sweet or I won't drink it. Which is why I also love the Kopperberg ciders. Especially the mixed fruit one. Mmmmmm..
13. If I could meet anyone it would be Bowie or Gaga. They're so inspiring for me because they're eccentric and don't care what people think. Little monster for life!
14. I secretly wish I could go back to high school simply because of the confidence I have now, but didn't have then. I still think about the times I could have stood up for myself and others when kids got nasty. I hate the attitude of most kids now. I wish parents cared more about what their kids do.
15. My hubby and I like to watch funny animal videos on YouTube and laugh our butts off. I wish I could have more pets but we're not allowed where we live. One day I want a property where I can have as many rescue pets as I want.
16. My parents separated when I was 17 but only just got divorced last year (12 years later!) but there's no animosity there, thank goodness.
17. I love the cold weather. I don't mind the heat but I hate sweating. I've only seen the snow once and that was on our honeymoon when we went to the Blue Mountains. It was magical!
18. Leo better win an Oscar this year. He's so deserving and is incredibly underrated. His performance in Shutter Island broke my heart (the lake scene with his kids) and he was hilarious in Wolf Of Wall Street. If he doesn't win, I'll riot.
19. I've met Erin Brockovich. The real one. I used to work for a law firm and she represents them in Australia. She was lovely and so funny.
20. I obsessed with daggy and lame dad jokes. My brother in law and I have regular competitions with our jokes. Oh and really bad puns. I just a good bad joke.

Liquid Sky Lacquer review 1

I was amazingly chosen as a continuous blog reviewer for the wonderful Carolyn at Liquid Sky Lacquer! I was so excited to receive the first three polishes to her recent collection. Two holos and a thermal.

First up is 24 Karat Rose, the thermal

When warm, it's a lovely soft rose colour. When cold it goes bubblegum pink (like pictured above. There is a great golden flake through it though. Check out this macro!

Amazing hey!
This polish is in high demand and sells out literally as soon as it is stocked up! So look at for the restocks and get in quick!
The only thing I didn't like about this polish was that it took 4 coats for it to be opaque. I'm not sure if that's a thermal polish thing and a thermal needs to be sheer (I'm no polish maker!) but I personally don't like seeing a visible nail line (or as the we say in nail language "VNL") but I was glad that it actually could be covered. All in all, a truly beautiful polish!

Next up is Can't Be Tamed, a lime green holographic polish. This was three coats. Out in the sunlight..... WOW!!!!! Absolutely stunning! It did stain my nails a little afterwards so just double up on the base coat before use. Other than that, it's gorgeous and I love it!

Lastly, my favourite of the three. And I don't know why because I don't usually like brown polishes, but this was unreal! Chocolate Obsession, perfectly named. This was only two coats, perfect! And check out that rainbow holo! I went with the chocolate theme and put some gold leaf foil in the tips of some nails to act as chocolate wrapping. So quirky and cute!
Seriously do yourself a favourite and get this one. It's a favourite in my collection now!

Can't wait for the next collection!

Bullying online

This is a very serious blog post and I apologize in advance. Let me take you back to the start...

As many of you may know, I used to run the account ignailartcredit. This site is for reporting accounts on Instagram that do not credit nail artists, erase watermarks, claim nail art property as their own, etc. the nature of the account is quite calm and friendly. There is no abuse or fighting. It is highly monitored and the page is private.
Nail artists are only allowed to follow this account, as the issue is applicable to nail artists and enthusiasts only.
I recently handed the account over to another nail artist to run while I take a break from it. This nail artist was more than happy to take control of it and completely agreed with all the conditions of the page.
A few weeks later, I received a comment from "instagramaccount". This page is not called "instagramaccount", I am using this as reference only as I do not wish to name them.
They asked me if I still ran the account ignailartcredit. I told them I didn't and someone else had taken over for me. They said they wanted an explanation as to why they were not accepted to follow ignailartcredit. I didn't look at their account, but asked the current owner of ignailartcredit why via Kik.
Their answer was simple: their account was dedicated to the Miss Jen Fabulous Nail Art Theif issue. This is quite a sensitive issue for a lot of nail artists. The current owner of ignailartcredit and I both agreed that it wouldn't be in the best interest of ignailartcredit to allow them to follow. A lot of people are getting very fired up over the Miss Jen issue but we felt like some of the posts on "instagramaccount" were a but too direct and aggressive. Our opinion. We didn't want that type of behaviour to possibly stain the calm nature of ignailartcredit.
So, I replied back to "instagramaccount" telling her politely that we both felt like the posts on her page and her direct attitude would clash with the integrity of ignailartcredit. Even though she then commented that she wanted to report other accounts, I still felt like the nature of her account wasn't a good vibe for ignailartcredit. I ended it with "I hope you understand".
I instantly received frantic questions asking what the point of ignailartcredit was. I explained that the Miss Jen issue is a seperate issue. And, it is. Ignailartcredit is for reporting accounts who steal nail art. Miss Jen has copied designs and not provided any recognition to other artists, plus other dramas involved. It's different.
I was then asked by "instagramaccount" what do I expect to do about accounts like Jen. I suggested that she direct those concerns to YouTube, as Jen is employed by YouTube, not Instagram.
So, long story short, "instagramaccount" didn't like the fact that they were not accepted to follow ignailartcredit. I didn't hear back, so I assumed the issue was resolved. I deleted the comments on my page a few hours later as I felt like they were negative and I didn't want it left on my page. I didn't get a friendly vibe from their comments and I instantly felt better for deleting all the comments.
The next day, "instagramaccount" posted on their page about an account on Instagram that didn't credit a nail artist. In the caption they mentioned that they were basically left on their own to report these pages because myself and ignailartcredit didn't accept them into their "club". They claimed there was "no reason", even though I clearly told them why. I felt like this was very rude, offensive and I asked her to delete it.
What I got then was long posts attacking me saying I was rude, lying, etc. I'm not even going into the comments in particular because it's a waste of my time and yours, but they kept threatening to post the conversation that I had with them. I had no idea why this was supposed to offend or attack me. I knew I was polite and did nothing wrong so what was the issue?
She also then likened me to Miss Jen, because I deleted the original conversation off my page. She claimed I was hiding the bullying I put upon her. That hurt most of all, since I did it to clear the negativity off my page. I told her to go ahead and post the conversation because I had nothing to hide. But I also told her that if she did, I would be reporting it to Instagram. I also said I would be blocking her and would no longer comment because I had nothing left to say. She continued to post, using posts from my own page to mock me. I had in the meantime posted a quote on my page saying "if people keep trying to bring you down, it only means that you are above them". I NEVER posted about "instagramaccount" on my page. I never wanted to because I keep my account drama free. "Instagramaccount" in fact asked me to post about it in my account. Which I thought was strange. I had no idea how this even started in the first place!
So, she posted the conversation we had on her page.
In the meantime, a few nail artists came accross the page and commented in my defense. Unfortunately, "instagramaccount" then felt like they could go onto their own personal page and continue their rant.
This afternoon, I noticed that "instagramaccount" was gone. I logged in through several of my own Instagram accounts to make sure I wasn't just blocked. No, it was gone.
I was happy, I won't lie. I don't stand for people lying about me and thinking they know who I am. It's defamation to my name and brand. I'm glad I chose to block them and refuse to comment even more.
The only thing I regret is starting to defend myself in the first place. I should have just reported it and let it go. But in my personal life, I am not one to roll over and accept people treating people like this, especially me.
I've dealt with bullying in my teen years, as I know about 99% of the population has. I don't put myself in a special category because of this. I sympathise with victims of bullying and am even involved in anti-bullying programs in my personal life.
When I saw that "instagramaccount" was gone, I was relieved that it was over. But I wanted to make sure no ripples had formed as a result of it's removal. Sure enough, it had.
Let's call this new account "instagramaccount2". I came across a hashtag on their page using #snowglobenails. They already had me blocked. Basically, they have used the account www.missjenfabulouss.com (2 s's at the end) to write a blog post about how I have "abused my power" to remove an account that had done "nothing wrong". Pretty sure Instagram wouldn't remove an account if it had done nothing wrong. I am disgusted at the attitude towards me just telling someone that I didn't agree with the nature if their account. Would she rather that I lie?
This blog post is a way of getting back at me. Here is a screen shot:
Apparently I should "know better"?
And apparently ignailartcredit's purpose is to "rally people together in order to report and have accounts deleted". This part is true because these are accounts are contributing to property violation. What I don't agree with is that apparently I casually just report people when I don't agree with them. Why would I? And who has the time for that? I reported because I was getting harassed. And "instagramaccount" had turned into a hate account where the last 8 or so posts had my name in the caption with a snide remark.
I will not post about this issue directly on Instagram as I don't want to drag people into this who do not want to know. But since I have put up a post saying I was taking a break from Instagram, I have been receiving messages (off Instagram) as to why. I believe I owe them the reason as to why I need to take a break.

I am hurt, offended and equally disgusted that someone can't see past their own anger to look at the facts.
I will leave it here...

Bubblelina Polish review

I had the pleasure of swatching another collection for Bubblelina Polish and I found some real gems.

I'll start with my favourite from the collection. This is called Grinch's Mistress

This is three coats of shimmery mermaid-coloured goodness. Mainly green with a slight duo chrome of gold, it also has teeny tiny gold glitters for sparkle. Absolutely magnificent!

Next up is Cocoa Glitz

Not a colour I would usually go for but putting it in was a dream. It reminds me of Lindt chocolate. Creamy and rich. This is just two coats. It has small copper glitters in it too with tiny bits of texture, so it actually looks like chocolate on your nails!

Next up is Queen Of New Years Eve

The only issue I have with this is the consistency is quite thick, although with this much glitter in a bottle I don't think you can expect anything else.
I thought this would be perfect for a glitter gradient so I did so over a plain black. Because of the amount of glitter I only needed to use it twice to achieve this. And I LOVE it!
It's a mix of royal blues and purples, some metallics and golden stars.. Beautiful!

Next are two polishes I have used with one mani.

The base is a shimmery silky pearlescent white called The First Snow. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the bits if texture through it, not sure if it was meant to be a textured polish but I thought it would be better smooth. This was three coats but it is still quite opaque with two.

I then used a glitter topper called Frosted Winter Berry. This polish I absolutely adore! Works well as a Christmas polish but also as a Valentines Day one also. It's so romantic and bold. This was two coats and has a mix of red, white and silver glitters in different shapes and sizes.

Next up is More Gifts For Me

A very subtle purple jelly packed with glitters. I put this over a purple undie to bring out the colours. As you can see, the amount of different glitters are wonderfully put together and are in different sizes, etc. The polish itself was quite thick but not too difficult to work with thankfully.

The most surprising polish of all was this one

I'm absolutely not a pink kind of girl, never have been. But I do love a thermal!

The polish in the bottle is hot pink but when on your nails and it warms to your body temperature it goes a very elegant champagne pink. LOVELY! I love everything about this polish! Three coats as it is quite sheer, but an amazing thermal to add to your collection. This one is called My Lover Perfect.

There you have it!

Remove nail stains!!

So.. The other day I had an unfortunate thing happen. I was testing out a brand that for some reason had a bad reaction to my nails. I used a strong base coat like I do everytime. I swatched, took a picture and went to take it off.. Then this happened...

Imagine my horror. I've never been a "oh no I broke a nail" kind of girl, but this gave me a lump in my throat. I had also just buffed the surface of my nails a few days prior so I knew that buffing again so soon was not ideal. Doing so would make the nails weak and brittle.

Luckily my hubby reminded me about a stain remover that I had bought a while back. I use it on my teeth but I saw on other blogs and reviews it can also be used successfully on nails. And this is the product:

It's called Eucryl. We don't have this readily available in Australia so I bought mine online. Oh and look at the hedgehog nail brush my former nail mail buddy Megan got for me! Squee!

So the process is that you wet the bristles of the brush, shake off the excess water, dab it in the powder and scrub away. Not too hard though, it's not necessary.

Amazingly, I didn't have to scrub for more than a whole minute to get rid of all the stains. I started scrubbing thinking nothing was happening until I pushed some of the foam away... It seriously felt like a miracle!

I highly recommend you invest in this stain remover powder! I was absolutely amazed! While it may not take away all the yellow stains straight away, my nails certainly do look less yellow. The most important thing is that it got rid of the awful polish stain. I'm going to make this scrub a weekly ritual now!

The Hungry Asian - Strawberry 🍓

I am amazed by how gorgeous this polish is! It's a smooth jelly red, but for a jelly it's opaque in two coats only. I used three in this picture and only  because I accidentally chipped a few of the tips while doing some housework (first world problems hey)

It has teeny tiny black glitters in it, although I'm not sure if you would say they are glittery, they're not shiny at all. They are perfectly round and pure black. But there aren't too many to take away from the gorgeous blood red colour of this polish.

Strawberry is a completely appropriate name because it looks exactly like it.
PERFECT!

I couldn't resist doing some handpainted strawberries as an accent. I used OPI Jade Is The New Black and a Skin Food lime green for the vines. Also did some little yellow dots to act as the strawberry plant flowers (without the petals)

Altogether, I think this is one if the most beautiful polishes I have ever seen and used. The outer appearance of the polish in the bottle certainly does the finished product justice.

Thank you The Hungry Asian!
